Over Thirty Years Of Superman Movies
Superman movies have bridged the last thirty years, starting in the summer of 1978. With the last of the movies being in 2006. Audiences from all over the world have enjoyed them on the big screen. DC comics invented the superhero character and introduced him the June of 1938.
Superman the Movie, first opened in 1978. Proving an instant box office hit grossing over $7.5 million in its initial weekend. Christopher Reeve stared in the first four installments playing our superhero, Clark Kent. His famous love, Louis Lane was played by Margot Kidder.
The movie opens with the fall of planet Krypton. In a desperate bid to save his son Jor-El sends him into space. When the young Kal-El finally hits earth its yellow sun gives him extra powers. He is found and brought up by the Kent's becoming Clark Kent, defender of earth and fighter for truth, justice and the American way.
Superman two arrived a few years later in 1980. Because of the adoration of the first movie, first weekend box office success was doubled in the US to over $14 million. Christopher Reeve returned to star as the mild mannered daily planet reporter where he falls in love with his reporting partner Louis Lane. In this movie three criminals have landed on earth who also gain super powers and are intending to take over the Earth. There is a prison break where Lex Luthor escapes, giving the film a comedy angle. Lex offers the bad guys his aid in finding the son of Jor-El.
Superman 3 arrived in the summer on 83. Which grossed over $13 million in its first US weekend. Reeve stared once again as Kent and received great acclaim for the famous scene when he battled his darker self. This films evil a tycoon using a super computer to command an US weather satellite. Gus Gorman is the happy go lucky computer geek, played by Richard Pryor who provides the comedy for the film.
Superman 4 The Quest For Peace opened in America in 1987, however it was not such a big hit on its opening weekend only bringing in a disappointing 6 million dollars. In this movie, we see the return of Gene Hackman as the evil genius Lex Luthor. Once again the modern age has been embarrassed with the evil plot surrounding Lex's latest way to take over the world by using Nuclear Man to fight Superman.
The summer of 2006 saw the latest film in the franchise Superman 5, Superman Returns. A hugely anticipated movie, taking a record breaking $52 million in its opening weekend. Brandon Routh is the actor now playing our super hero with the arch villain Lex Luthor played by Kevin Spacey. In this movie superman returns to earth after searching for evidence of his former planet. He finds Louis Lane still at the Daily Planet but she has moved on and is now engaged. Lex is up to his normal world domination tricks. He has in his possession Krypton crystals which he is going to use to form his own continent on North America, killing millions.
Superman Movies all have the fate of the world at stake, where the plot is centred around good and evil and where good always wins. The next movie is being released in Winter 2012.

My bet goes with Gogeta, this guy is almost god level. And doomsday nearly killed superman, and i wouldnt put Doomsday above kid buu level.
Lol, You shouldn't even put Goku's name in the same sentence as Superman. Goku would annialate superman, even if he was just a Super Saiyan 1. Goku can shoot energy blasts, go faster then the speed of light, and even destroy planets with the slightest of ease. Now if your saying Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta, you gotta be kidding me. SSJ4 Gogeta, will destroy him in his sleep using his Pinky.
