One of the most famous diamonds in the World previously known as "Le bleu de France" or The Hope Diamond as it is known today, is not only extremely exquisite it is also mysterious and alluring.
It was made famous because of the curse that have been associated with the diamond throughout its' long history. It also became a famous diamond as a result Hollywood featuring it in many movies that highlight its' splendor and mysteries.
One of the most remarkable of all famous diamonds, The Hope Diamond is a deep blue diamond held in the Smithsonian Natural Museum of History in Washington D.C valuing of $350 million.
It was displayed in its' newest setting on November 18th in 2010 to thousand of viewers who queued up for hours to see it..
Probably the most mysterious thing about The Hope Diamond is that when you look at it with the human eye you see a wonderful deep blue color.
However, under ultraviolet lighting it displays a red phosphorescence that is said to be as a result of a small amount of boron inside the structure of the crystals.
The Hope Diamond is 45.52 carats or 9.10g and according all accounts The Hope Diamond was stolen in its' original form from the eye of a statue of the Goddess Sita, the wife of Rama.
Stories that surfaced in January 1908 claimed that The Hope Diamond was cursed, but some would suggest that this curse was the invention of Westerners of the Victorian era.
Also that the legend was created in order to add mystique to increase the buying appeal of most famous diamonds of the time.
Another impressive diamond has to be the Centenary Diamond that was presented to the world in its' final form in May 1991. It is said to be the third largest diamond to come from the Premier Mine in South Africa.
This diamond is aptly named The De Beers Centenary Diamond at 273.85 carats or 54.77g in its original form. It is the highest grade of a colorless diamond with no internally and externally flaws.
According to the Gemological Institute in America, its' rating is a grade D color and one of the largest high colored and famous diamonds ever found.
Famous diamonds Heart of Eternity
The Heart of Eternity is a beautiful name for a diamond of this impressive brilliance at 27.64 carats or 5.528g. It is described and highly valued as a fancy vivid blue by the Gemological Institute in America.
It is considered to be a member of a rare group of colored famous diamonds that come from South Africa Premier Mine. The Premier Mine is the only mine in the World to produce rare and exquisite type 11b blue diamonds.
This type of diamond accounts for less than 0.1% of all the diamonds coming out of the Premier mine. It was unveiled to the public in January 2000 by De Beers as part of their Millennium Jewels collection.

While on display in London at the Millennium Dome throughout 2000, a robbery attempt was made on November 7th to steal this collection of famous diamonds, which was foiled by the police after an allege tip-off.
The Moussaieff Red diamond once known as the Red Shield Diamond is valued at 7 million and is by no means an insignificant diamond because of its' size when compared to others.
It was found in Brazil by a farmer in the Abaetezinho river in 1990 in the Alto Paranaiba region, where there have been many discoveries of large fancy-colored famous diamonds.
It was bought, cut and renamed the Red Shield by William Goldberg famous diamonds Corp and have been rated by G.I.A as a fancy Red.
It was a mere 13.9 carats or 2.78g before cutting, but after cutting it is 5.11 carats or 1.022g and the new owner of this famous diamond is Moussaief Jewelry LTD.
They have given it a triangular brilliant cut and it has been rated as the largest Fancy Red of all famous diamonds by the Gemological Institute in America.
