I'm new to this Days Sales Oustanding (DSO) and keep reading it is done periodically (monthly or annually). However, I was wondering if it can be useful to analyze a collector's performance or an individual customer? To analyze a collector's performance can determine their efficiency; to analyze per customer can help focus on a customer's payment habits with a company, which can help a collector figure out which customers need to be gone after urgently.

yes you could compute one for a group of customers including a group under a specific collector.
just annualize the sales for the period and divide by average receivable balance.
it can be done monthly, quarterly, annually etc. annual is probably too much history and gives to much weight for someting that occured 12 months ago. one month might not be enough data either. a rolling 3 month DSO might be a good measure.
