Comics One
So am I the only one who thinks the comics category would benefit from a division between comics and anime?
This board is overrun with anime/manga which isn't bad. But when a question about western comics is posted it either gets ignored or the answers are completely wrong.
@Bara Bara But the quality would increase. Anime fans that don't know anything about western comics give wrong answers all the time on this board. If there's a split there would be less users, but those users would be more knowledgeable on the subject
Could not agree more. Most manga fans are really primarily interested in anime. The manga is nice, and as a comics fan I love them, but it's the anime that draws them to manga, whereas comics has little to do with animation, and what little overlap exists is naturally deeply rooted in the magazines themselves and is generally inferior to the source.
You can talk about how quality would increase, and maybe it would. Personally, when I'm in a mood to answer questions about comics, I find it really annoying to have to wade through miles of anime questions to do so. Though I must say, too many of them want to know who would win over who. It doesn't do me much good to tell people that comics have evolved when the fans ask the same moronic questions that seemed silly to me when I was ten years old.
Edit: I don't think manga and comics should be segregated, just that animation and comics should. Generally speaking, if an American cartoon is based on a comic, that cartoon is weaker version. Though recently the writing has gotten better, the art in these cartoons is not good enough to satisfy a comics fan. It's not like that in Japan, where the anime is often preferable to the printed version. It seems obvious to me that if animation were separated from comics, most manga fans would gravitate towards the animation page, along with fans of other cartoons.
