Yarn Plus Techniques: Clusters, Weaving, Couching
1. Knotted Clusters
Make even more of a feature of clusters by binding them in a contrasting color and yarn. Groups of five stitches are clustered together, with spaces of five stitches between clusters. Each cluster is tightly bound to draw the stitches in. The binding thread is not woven into the back of the knitted fabric, rather it is firmly knotted on the front and the ends trimmed short to add extra interest.
2. Beaded Clusters
The beads need to fit snugly onto the second yarn to prevent them from moving around on the clusters. Thread the beads onto the second yarn before working the stitch and catch it into the back of the knitted fabric between clusters.
For this swatch groups of three stitches are clustered together, with a space of three stitches between clusters. There are three rows between cluster rows, with the next row of clusters worked over the stitches that formed the spaces on the previous cluster row. Alternate rows of clusters are beaded.
3. Chunky Clusters
A thick yarn will make the clusters more pronounced, and if the groups of stitches are not bound tightly, the gauge (tension) of the fabric will not alter. However, the drape will be affected.
This swatch has the same stitch pattern as Beaded Clusters. The working yarn is bound loosely five times around the groups of stitches.
4. Colorful Weaving
Weaving is quick and simple to work and the result can be very decorative, making it perfect for large areas of knitted fabric. It will make the fabric stiff, however, and you need to be careful not to pull the weaving yarn tight or the gauge (tension) will be affected. Consider using all-over weaving on projects such as bags, which can benefit from a firmer fabric.
5. Button Weaving
Thread decorative elements such as beads or in this case buttons, onto the weaving yarn before you start. Slide them down the yarn as you work until you reach the required position. Then, with the weaving yarn in front, slide the element down to sit in front of the stitch and continue weaving. The elements cannot be too heavy or they will pull on the yarn and hang down from the knitted fabric.
6. Weaving On Stripes
A simple stripe pattern can be made far more interesting by incorporating weaving. The effect can be as subtle or as vibrant as you wish, depending on the colors chosen.
7. Mixed Yarn Couching
Couching offers a way of incorporating a multitude of different yarns into a knitted fabric. They can be of entirely different weights, though fine, silky yarns have a tendency to slide within the couching stitches and may be visually overwhelmed by them.
8. Staggered Couching
The positioning of the couching stitches can be varied along the rows to add interest to the finished result. Plan the design on graph paper before you start and then work a swatch to ensure that what you envisioned translates effectively.

anime hair style IRL: can i dye my hair gray?
to stylists and otherwise: i'm wanting to dye my hair gray, like so many characters in anime. is this possible?
i've seen hair swatches in the dark gray colour i want in my cousin's ...hair swatch book thing. but i don't know if i really can.
my hair is currently a dark brown. any one know and or heard of this? google is being vague > >
I really have no experience in hair, but if I were you I'd go for the light gray since your hair is dark brown. If you want it a dark grey, the best thing you can do is lighten it up with a lighter color.
