Hypnosis Uncovered - the Mystery of Hypnosis Revealed
The mystery of hypnosis revealed....
When I first found out about hypnosis, it conjured up a mix of emotions including, curiosity and intrigue in addition to slight fear. The thought of being made to do something whilst being in trance like state, seemingly out of your own control stirred up a certain level of apprehension that’s for sure.
When I actually took the time to find out what it was really about, it created a range of quite different emotions, including feelings associated with shattered illusions and slight disappointment – I had also secretly hoped that it would be something slightly magical. I realised how wrong I was, and that the reality is, that no one can be forced to do anything that is not in alignment with their values.
People will only do things that they really want or choose to under hypnosis. Ultimately you are under your own control not anyone elses.
Hypnotists actually facilitate a process, which starts with establishing the person’s suggestibility. You may note that if you see a stage hypnotist show, many of the volunteers are sent back to their seats, as they are found to be less suggestible. The volunteers that continue to be involved in the show are very aware that they may be asked to do unusual things and have made a conscious decision to be involved.
The process that the hypnotist uses actually involves guiding the other person to a different more heightened state of awareness, so they are very aware of what they are doing, and their attention is solely focused on what the hypnotist is suggesting, everything else around them is temporarily filtered out.
Under hypnosis you are tapping in to your unconscious (or subconscious) mind. Your conscious mind and the critical faculty (the part of you mind which is responsible for making decisions) becomes disengaged, and your unconscious mind becomes receptive to suggestions.
Our unconscious mind is where all of our underlying values and beliefs are stored - our own individual and unique set of rules regarding how we live our lives, what is acceptable to us and what isn’t etc. It is important to note that under hypnosis, it only becomes receptive to suggestions that are in alignment with our values.
Hypnosis is an extremely effective way of making positive behavourial change – I have used it, both when conducting performance coaching with clients and to challenge some of my own personal limiting beliefs, and achieved fantastic results.
The bottom line is that you cannot make behavourial change under hypnosis or be forced to eat a raw onion unless you make a conscious decision to do so. The responsibility always comes back the individual, nobody can actually make or force anyone else to change, we can only change ourselves, and that is only if we choose to.

i have this million-page (8-10 page) research paper thats due at the end of the semester. we're supposed to go ahead and think of our topic.
i've already done papers on Nessie, The Titanic, Slavery, and I enjoyed researching all of those, too bad i can't do them again.
I've thought about Cloning and The Bermuda Triangle, and someone's already doing that idea (forget what its called) where you can freeze someone and bring them back to life?
anyways...so you have an idea of what my interests are.
I want to have a few ideas lined up in case one doesn't work out.
