More Blu-ray Movies Great for Halloween

Halloween is the perfect time to catch up with some great scary movies. And the perfect way to view any movie is on Blu-ray. More movies are being released on Blu-ray all the time. So you get to view all your old favorites and classics as if you were viewing them for the very first time. All of these films can be seen in High Definition 1080p and full of extra features. This list contains great horror movies that are available or will be available on Blu-ray.

Some are classic horror movies such as The Exorcist and Psycho. Two movies many consider to be the greatest horror films ever made. They are certainly two of the most scariest and should not be watched alone. Also being released is the Alien Anthology. All four of the Alien films can be seen in glorious 1080p High Definition. On the lighter side, films such as The Evil Dead, The Rocky Horror Picture show and Shaun of the Dead will provideyou just as many laugh as they will scares. All the films are different in their own unique way, but one thing is for certain, they will frighten and entertain you this Halloween.

The Exorcist (Director: William Friedkin, 1973) Blu-ray Release Date: October 5, 2010

The Exorcist has been frightening movie goers close to 4 decades. Can you imagine what the head spinning and satanic vomit will look like in High Definition. Based on William Peter Blatty's novel, it is a frightening and realistic story of an innocent girl (Linda Blair) who gets possessed by a terrifying demon. Her mother played by Ellen Brursten, try's frantically to save her. She enlists the help of two priest, one who is doubt-ridden and the other is a tower of faith. They unit to battling the ultimate evil. Warner has released a stunning two disc Blu-ray of this classic horror movie, many consider this to be the scariest movie ever made. It gets the full blu-ray treatment with new commentary, documentaries and both the original theatrical release and the 2000 directors cut versions of the movie in glorious high definition.

Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez combine their directing and writing skills for the first time ever in the Double Feature GRINDHOUSE. These exciting and exhilarating movies are now together in one packaging, and both are the original theatrical versions. Of course you can not forget the several faux trailers before and between the two films, Rodriguez's Planet Terror and Tarantino's Death Proof. Planet Terror is a wonderfully sleazy, zombie exploitation film and Death Proof is a dialog heavy serial killer film. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (Director: Philip Kaufman, 1978) Blu-ray Release Date: September 14, 2010

While a remake of the classic 1950's film, this 1970's version has itself become a classic. Based on a book called "The Body Snatchers" by Jack Finney and adapted for the screen by Academy Award® nominee W.D. Richter, the story takes place in San Francisco, where alien spores|spores] fall from outer space. These spores take root and transform into beautifully exotic flowers. However, the flowers have a plan. They slowly clone human bodies and then get rid of the originals. Hailed by critics as "A first-rate suspense thriller" (Newsday), the Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a thrilling sci-fi adventure that will have your heart racing and blood turning cold.

The Return of the Living Dead (Directors: Dan O'Bannon, 1985) Blu-ray Release Date: September 14, 2010

Horror comedy is one of the most underrated film genres. To get a mixture of both horror and humor is a hard task to accomplish and get right. But when it does go right you get a film like The Return of the Living Dead. Freddy, on his first day of a new job and his supervisor Frank, unknowingly releases a toxic nerve gas from a US military container. The gas quickly finds it way to the nearest cemetery where it re-animates the dead. Soon hundreds of corpses are rising, staving for human brains. Thankfully, there are a group of young teenagers nearby that are just waiting to be gorged upon. The Return of the Living Dead is filled with enough gore and laughs to keep you both scared and laughing til it hurts.

Psycho (Director: Alfred Hitchcock , 1960) Blu-ray Release Date: October 19, 2010

Easily one of the most shocking movies ever made, Psycho is Alfred Hitchcock's landmark masterpiece and maybe his most famous film. Arguable the world's greatest director of all time, Hitchcock made a career out of creating chilling suspense and driving his audiences to fits of terror. Psycho is a movie about a young woman( Janet Leigh) who unfortunately decides to spend the night at the Bates Motel. The motel is run by Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), one of films most infamous psychopaths. In addition to many extra features that accompany the discs you get to view in High Definition 1080p, one of the most iconic film scenes ever, the "Shower Scene". Trick 'r Treat (Director: Michael Dougherty, 2009) Blu-ray Release Date: October 6, 2009

The horror anthology has seem to have lost favor with movies fans over the last couple of decades. Then the movie Trick 'r Treat comes along and reminds us how superb these types of films can be. Like Creepshow and Tales from the Crypt, Trick 'r Treat interweaves four tales that take place simultaneously on Halloween night in one neighborhood block in Ohio. The four tales involve a school principle moonlighting as the town serial killer; a young woman searching for a special guy that has gruesome consequences; a group of teens carrying out a vicious prank with dire consequences and finally an old man battles a trick-or-treating demon. The stories gradually become more violent and complicated, leaving you wanting more.

The wait is finally over for fans of the Alien movies. In this special collection you get two versions of all four Alien films in High Definition and 60 hours of extra features. 'Alien' - A space ship gets what it believes to be a distress call. When it investigates it unknowingly takes on board a vicious alien. Maybe the scariest Sci-Fi horror movie ever made. Always remember, "In space no one can hear you scream."

'Aliens' - Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) is back as the sole survivor from the original 'Alien' movie. She gets awakened after 57 years of traveling through space. She soon discovers that the moon her crew found the alien on is now a colony and can not be contacted. Ripley goes back with a small group of marines to discover a large colony of the aliens have wiped out the colonist. Maybe not as great as the original movie but extraordinary on its own level.  

'Alien3' -  An alien infiltrates a  penal colony when the  ship carrying Ripley crashes there.

'Alien: Resurrection' - Brought back to life by cloning her DNS, scientists want to resurrect the alien that died inside Ripley.

Director Sam Rami's The Evil Dead is a cult classic on every level. The mixture of hysterical slapstick comedy with gory violence and truly frightening scenes is near perfection. The Evil Dead is a story about a group of young adult friends who go to a cabin in the middle of the woods. Here they find and battle a demonic evil that is lurking in the forest. They unwillingly unleash this evil when they discover the Book Of The Dead and a taped recording of the book. When the tape is played, the evil gets released. As each friend is overcome by the evil and turn into deadly zombies, only one remains (Bruce Campbell). It is up to him to survive and defeat The Evil Dead. Made on a shoe string budget, it just goes to prove that with imagination and skill you can make a really horrifying and entertaining movie.

When George A Romeo released Dawn of The Dead in 1978, he pretty much perfected the zombie movie. Nothing since has really come close to topping it or capturing the film's terrifying atmosphere and social commentary. Then Shaun of the Dead is released and puts a whole new spin of the zombie film and the horror spoof.  It tells the story of what happens when a slacker, Shaun has to save himself, his friends and family from the flesh-eating undead. Like all great horror comedies, Shaun of the Dead can be brilliant funny when characters find themselves in situations of extreme peril. Not to be missed, Shaun of the Dead just may be the best horror spoof ever made.

Does JOKER actually die in the original batman film.?

JOKER falls of a building and goes splat. supposedly hes dead. there is a laughing machine in a bag in his corpses jacket. why doesn't joker die in batman the dark knight film. presumably he gets sent to arkham asylum as seen in the game ....ect. the point is does joker actually die or not and if he lives, how!!!

Burton killed him off. You try jumping off a skyscraper & surviving.

I thought the Joker DID die in Dark Knight. (I can only remember 25% of the movie).

Seriously, I'd like to know that myself. The Joker NEVER dies in the comics. Well, there was that time in Legends of the Dark Knight with Ra's Al Ghul & the Lazerus Pitts, but that series isn't even canon. Hell, the Joker didn't even die when Black Mask shot him between the eyes.

Well, the directors are pretty loyal with Batman's character, but both of them fanfictionalized the Joker. They like to Hollywoodize them even. Why, Nolan practically rapped Two-Face with his character inaccuracies.

Normally, when the Joker falls off a building, Batman will reluctantly come & save him. (Knowing this, I'm suprised the Joker doesn't do it more often just to annoy him). Burton forgot about Batman's No-Kill moto, where no matter how much Batman hates someone, he won't allow them to die on his watch, & if they do, he crawls up in fetal position & cries like a baby while Alfred consoles him.
